Bentley's Birth Video
First of all I can't even believe how fast time flies by! I used to see moms post about their babies and say how they need to stop growing up and time needs to slow down....but seriously! It seems like just yesterday that she finally came into this world, however here we are 8 weeks later! CRAZY!
It really seems like just yesterday I went into labor! It was a Sunday morning and I woke up feeling some contractions. Not terrible ones, but they were definitely there so I decided to start timing them. I told Benny that I wanted to go on a hard fast walk to try and get them coming more. (I was 3 days over my due date at this point so I was beyond ready to meet our little angel) From about 8:00 to 1:00 they were 5 minutes apart and were getting stronger.
We were at my mother-in-laws house for brunch and as we were on our way home they really started coming! I got home and got in the bath to see if it would help....that bath only lasted for about 3 minutes! My contractions were so strong that I knew it was time to go! I seriously thought I was going to die...my mom and sister always told me that you will just KNOW when you are really in labor and that couldn't be more true! I had hit the point that I knew our baby girl was on her way!
I called my mom to tell her that I was headed to the hospital and we decided that I could take a 5 minute detour to my parents house to have my Dad and Benny give me a blessing, then we headed straight down to Alta View. We checked into the hospital at about 2:00 pm. I was only dilated 1 and a half cm, but my contractions were 2 minutes apart so they admitted me (thank goodness). So at that point we knew it was going to be a very long labor. All I can say is thank heavens for epidurals!!!! As soon as I had my IV the Anesthesiologist came in to give me the epidural which I was very nervous for because I hate needles.......Surprisingly, it was a piece of cake! For anyone who is scared to get an epidural...don't be! It was so quick and easy and I felt 100% better! I was then able to just hang out and enjoy the whole experience. Not to mention it was awesome to see very big, long contractions on the monitor and not feel a single one! :)
About 16 hours later at 5:30 in the morning I was finally at a 10 and it was time to start pushing. The next 2 hours went by pretty fast and Dr. Smith was coming to deliver our beautiful baby girl! I had my epidural to a perfect amount that I couldn't feel any pain, but I was able to feel pressure and exactly what was going on.
At 7:40am she finally arrived weighing 7 lbs 6 oz (exactly the same as her Mommy). It was all so surreal! We were so happy and so relieved that she was here and in my arms! I had been waiting for that moment for what seemed like an eternity! And it was absolutely perfect!
These last few months have been amazing! I honestly can't even believe how much we love little Bel! As soon as she was placed in my arms for the first time I thought my heart was going to explode! The love that you feel for someone that you just met is amazing....and to add to it you somehow manage to love them more and more each day, if that is even possible!
1 week after Bentley was born we went and had her newborn pictures taken! My heart just melts looking at these!!
